About the Ice Age Trail
Mission
To preserve
Wisconsin's cultural and glacial
heritage for the education and enjoyment of
present and future generations.
|
| "It began two million
years ago with one of nature's most
delicate structures - the
snowflake." -Backpacker
Magazine
|
|
How
Create,
support and protect a continuous 1,200 mile
system of parks and trails tracing unique Ice
Age formations across Wisconsin. The Ice Age
Park & Trail Foundation permanently
protects this continuous band of varied
glacial landscapes through the use of state
and school owned land, private landowner
segments, land purchases and many other
classifications of landownership.
|
| "Wisconsin's many lakes
and ponds, forested hills and ridges, and
gently rolling farmlands remind us of the
glacier's visit and beckon us to come,
explore, and enjoy" -IAPTF
|
|
Today 600 miles
of the Ice Age Trail are complete with only
600 more miles to go! Through IAPTF, the Ice
Age Trail is connecting people, communities,
and state & local parks providing a
living history of Wisconsin's geological
past.
