"Always be prepared to make
a defense to any one who calls you to account
for the hope that is in you, yet do it with
gentleness and respect."

Please pray
for President Obama and all pro death
politicians! Pray for the Lord to convert
their hearts and for them to repent of the sin
of abortion.
President Obama made it clear
during the election he would remove any
restriction against abortion. He wants to
undo any gains the pro-life movement has made
recently. During his campaign he promised
once he was elected he would sign FOCA if it was
reintroduced. FOCA is the "Freedom of
Choice Act" which would remove all barriers to
abortion and remove any conscience clause for
doctors and pharmacists. President Obama
has already lifted some restrictions which were
put in place by the previous president.
Legislators, when it comes to
abortion just thinking about the ones who
represent me nationally and here locally in
Wisconsin give me a headache. Some of the
representatives I am blessed with having even
call themselves "Catholic". When I pose a
question or ask for them to vote in a pro-life
way I quickly get a response back that they do
not personally like abortion but cannot impose
their views on others. Who are they trying
to kid with that line. Every time time
they vote on something they are imposing their
views on others. When they are voting on
emission controls for factories or cars they are
imposing their views on others. Do they
think no one is ever affected by these
decisions? Higher factory costs may mean
fewer jobs or higher costs for consumers.
The lower income families are usually the
hardest hit but the politician makes the choice
that it is better to save the environment than
to help people save money.
This "fence sitting" is something
that politicians have gotten very good at.
They can be personally opposed to abortion and
try to appease people opposed to it while not
upsetting the pro-abortionists
What does it mean to be
"Catholic" to my representatives? Is faith
something you only have on Sunday at church and
then you take it off when you change your
clothes after mass on Sunday? To quote a
friend of mine "eating at a McDonalds doesn't
make someone a hamburger, going to church
doesn't make someone a Christian".
To those elected officials locally and
nationally I think the Catholic label is just
something to wear. Sort of like going to
one of many community gatherings where they have
a chance to press a little flesh.
If you are a Catholic doesn't
your faith change your life to the core, change
the way you look at the world?
