Welcome

1 Peter 3:15 "Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and respect."

Welcome to our newly designed site.  Please look around and if you have a question or suggestion for something you would like to see here send an email to fiat_lux555@hotmail.com and I will try to answer your concern.  Every effort is made to follow the teachings of the Catholic Church.  If you look to the right of this page you will see easy links to the rest of our site.

Please pray for President Obama and all pro death politicians!  Pray for the Lord to convert their hearts and for them to repent of the sin of abortion.

President Obama made it clear during the election he would remove any restriction against abortion.  He wants to undo any gains the pro-life movement has made recently.  During his campaign he promised once he was elected he would sign FOCA if it was reintroduced.  FOCA is the "Freedom of Choice Act" which would remove all barriers to abortion and remove any conscience clause for doctors and pharmacists.  President Obama has already lifted some restrictions which were put in place by the previous president.

Legislators, when it comes to abortion just thinking about the ones who represent me nationally and here locally in Wisconsin give me a headache.  Some of the representatives I am blessed with having even call themselves "Catholic".  When I pose a question or ask for them to vote in a pro-life way I quickly get a response back that they do not personally like abortion but cannot impose their views on others.  Who are they trying to kid with that line.  Every time time they vote on something they are imposing their views on others.  When they are voting on emission controls for factories or cars they are imposing their views on others.  Do they think no one is ever affected by these decisions?  Higher factory costs may mean fewer jobs or higher costs for consumers.  The lower income families are usually the hardest hit but the politician makes the choice that it is better to save the environment than to help people save money.

This "fence sitting" is something that politicians have gotten very good at.  They can be personally opposed to abortion and try to appease people opposed to it while not upsetting the pro-abortionists

What does it mean to be "Catholic" to my representatives?  Is faith something you only have on Sunday at church and then you take it off when you change your clothes after mass on Sunday?  To quote a friend of mine "eating at a McDonalds doesn't make someone a hamburger, going to church doesn't make someone a Christian".   To those elected officials locally and nationally I think the Catholic label is just something to wear.  Sort of like going to one of many community gatherings where they have a chance to press a little flesh.

If you are a Catholic doesn't your faith change your life to the core, change the way you look at the world?

Ever wonder if the mass has roots in scripture?

Sometimes we are questioned or we may even have questions ourselves about the relationship between scripture and the mass.  Take a look here  for where in scripture you can find the Catholic Mass.

I came across a few quotations from "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas Kempis which are good for short meditations on Christ.

"Jesus has now many lovers of His heavenly kingdom, but few who bear His cross."

"He has many who desire consolations, but few who desire tribulation."

"He finds many companions at table, but few in abstinence."

"All desire to rejoice with Him, few are willing to suffer something for Him and with Him."

"Many follow Jesus to the breaking of bread, but few follow Him to the drinking of the chalice of His passion."

"Many venerate His miracles, but few follow Him in the ignominy of the cross."

"Many love Jesus, as long as the do not meet with any adversity."

"Many praise Him and bless Him, as long as they receive consolation from Him.  But if Jesus hide himself, and abandon them for a little while, they either complain or fall into extreme discouragement."
