Attic Insulation
When we were looking for someone to
patch our water-damaged ceiling someone suggested that we should add insulation
in the attic. Menards had 6" insulation on special offer so we could
not resist adding this warm blanket for our house. They explained that
if we added insulation in the attic especially around the outside edges
of the roof, that it would keep the temperature of the roof more similar
to the outside air temperature. That would mean less ice would melt
and drip into or down the side of the dormer windows and therefore cause
less water damage. Attic insulation is the NUMBER 1 insulation treatment
to do. It recaps its invesment long before double glazinf or wall
insualtion.
My Husband valiantly installed
over 50 square yards of 6-inch itchy fibreglass insulation all by himself,
carefully bracing and balancing himself on the joists as there are no floor
boards up there. . -Oh what a bother- he says but job well done.
TIP: wear gloves and a face mask.
have a shower after working with fiberglass matting to wash off the fine
glass fibers.
RECYCLE: Fiberglass sheeting
is mainly made from recyled glass. A good Green product.
