Our Mission
We are an organization whose mission is to support the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in operating and maintaining Rock Island State Park.
Member Benefits
As a member, you will be kept informed of our efforts and learn about what's happening on the island in a quarterly newsletter as well as be invited to FORI-sponsored events. Members are also given first priority when annual Lighthouse docents are selected.
Memberships
- An annual individual membership is $10/year
- An annual family membership is $25/year
- A life membership is $300 once
- Corporate Memberships: Businesses are invited to contribute to our lighthouse project. Any business that makes a contribution automatically becomes a corporate member of F.O.R.I. Some of F.O.R.I.'s corporate members are: Peterson Builders, Inc. of Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin and the U.S. Lighthouse Society of San Francisco, California

You may include a donation with your membership application.
Donations go towards park and Lighthouse maintenance projects.
FORI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so your donations may be
tax-deductible.
We have a Wish List of items we would like to acquire too. If you have
any of these or have information on where we might acquire them, please

- 1910 home furniture for the Lighthouse
- an antique kerosene lamp base for the Lighthouse (we have a chimney)
- Thordarson boathouse furniture
- historical photos of the lower level of the Thordarson boathouse.
Merchandise
Friends of Rock Island offer souvenirs and clothing for sale at the Contact Station near the boat dock on Rock Island, at the Pottawatomie Lighthouse Museum on Rock Island and at The Kaupstadur Gift Shop by the ferry dock on Washington Island.
T –Shirts, Crew & Hooded Sweatshirts and Denim Shirts all come in S-XXL.
The 2009 T-Shirt has a schematic of a Fresnel Lens on the front and a
drawing of Augustin-Jean Fresnel with the history of the lens that is in
the Pottawatomie Lantern Room on the back.
Embroidered Pottawatomie Lighthouse caps in denim and sand - one size fits all.
