Meet Your School Counselor

Thank you for visiting the Almond-Bancroft

Elementary Guidance page!  My name is Dawn Barber

and I have been the elementary counselor here since 1993.

I was educated at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

In 1989, I received my undergraduate Bachelor of Science

degree in Psychology.  In 1991, I received my Master of

Science degree in Education.  I am certified as a Pre-kindergarten

through grade 12 school counselor.

Before I came to the Almond-Bancroft School District, I

interned for a year in the Waupaca School District.  I served

as the elementary counselor intern at the Chain O' Lakes School,

Westwood School and Riverside School for grades K-5.

My professional interests are grief counseling and peer mediation.  I have

attended many professional conferences and workshops on these two

issues and hope that I will be able to incorporate the things I have learned

to broaden the services I provide in the Almond-Bancroft School District.

I am a member of the Wisconsin School Counselor's Association as well as

the Central Wisconsin School Counselor's Association.  These professional

memberships allow me to interact with school counselors from the area

and the state in order to keep current with issues that are important

to students and parents.

Many people wonder what an elementary school counselor

does.   I hope I can answer that question on

these web pages.   Again, thank you for taking the interest

in your child's school.
