LMC Local Resources

"A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life."

Henry Ward Beecher

The Library Media Center (LMC) is more than a library; it is the central access point for both print and nonprint information. If you ever need information on a topic and you can't find what you need, ask the LMC Director (librarian), the adult LMC aide, or one of the student aides. Besides containing a collection of fiction and non-fiction books, the LMC also has the following items:
Audiovisual Equipment
   AV Software
      Career Information
	  Cassettes
	    Computer and CD-ROM Software
	      Electronic Encyclopedias
Filmstrips and Videocassettes
    Infotrak (magazine index)
        Interlibrary Loan Materials
            Internet Access
                Magazines and Newspapers
Pamphlets and Vertical File Info
	Professional Books
		Reference Materials

In total, the LMC houses a collection of approximately 17,100 items.

Books and AV software are accessible by searching the online catalog. MOLLI is the name of the online circulation and cataloging system. There are student workstations which can be used for searching the card catalog, using computer and CD-ROM software, and doing research using the electronic encyclopedias.

The LMC receives local and out-of-town newspapers plus a variety of magazines covering subjects from art to zoology.

The periodical holdings date back three years. The LMC also subscribes to InfoTrak, a periodical indexing service which has complete articles that are available on the LMC network.

There is a vertical file which contains articles and pamphlets on current events and interests.

There are old magazines and newspapers that are available for class work and art projects. These can be cut apart by teachers and students for pictures and articles.

Suggestion forms are available in the LMC. Students, parents, and teachers may use the forms to request books, magazines, and other materials for inclusion in the LMC collection.
